We met Lauren and her mother, Debbie, when we rented dresses for a styled shoot from their shop, RL Bridal, in Oklahoma City (it’s a beautiful shop with some amazing dresses!). Lauren happened to be planning her own wedding and we were so excited when she asked us to cover her destination wedding at the incredible Thorncrown Glass Chapel in Eureka Springs!
When we arrived on the morning of their big day, our first business was to photograph the collection of gorgeous details she had prepared for us. Driving around the eccentric tourist town, we searched for the perfect locations to serve as a background for the stunning bouquet, invitation suite, rings, and other various details. The Springs was no disappointment for unique backdrops!
Thorncrown Chapel is, of course, amazing on its own, standing tall seemingly so far away from any signs of the busy tourist town – but witnessing the exchanging of wedding vows in the bright chapel with the vibrant forest colors in every direction made it so much more so. Lauren and Travis had a short but touching ceremony before we took them outside the chapel to capture the family and bridal party portraits.
After the ceremony, we hopped in our vehicles and led the newlywed couple along the winding roads to a preselected location for their final wedding portraits. We laughed all the way – the aforementioned roads feel like they’re going in circles and we were sure that the two behind us were starting to wonder just where we were going – but when we arrived at the spring tucked away into the stony hillside, the portraits were simply magical. Lauren and Travis had also decided to have their first dance there, away from the busyness of the reception, and the quiet intimacy of the romantic moment was like none we had photographed, with only the four of us lost in the Ozark paradise. Though the music was only played from the speaker of Travis’s phone, it was no less powerful.
Lauren and Travis, it was such an honor to be a part of your special destination wedding, and we hope that the photos are a beautiful reminder of what you felt that day and just how wonderful it is to be one with the person you love most in the world!
